Very good to very good (+) publisher’s original red cloth covers with titles in gilt on spine and white on the cover. Spine slightly faded but gilt titling still very bright. A few odd marks to spine. Map in black on front cover with white line showing the route of the Baghdad Railway. Some light fading and spotting along the top edge of the rear cover.
Some light foxing to front and rear endpapers. Private bookplate on front free endpaper.
Text is in very good condition with no major foxing, marks or other blemishes.
A good firm copy of a scarce book.

Account of the journey Fraser made in 1908 along the projected route of the Baghdad Railway through Anatolian Turkey, Turkish Kurdistan, northern Iraq, Baghdad and on finally to Basra in the south.
Fraser gives some interesting facts and figures about the projected Baghdad railway, trade and population of the coutries along the route and some account of Armenian Massacres".
The Appendices comprise the text of the Convention de la Societe Imperiale du Chemin de Fer de Baghdad, Cahier de Charges, Statuts and the Convention Additionelle
Now a very scarce book.

David Fraser was a Special Correspondent for the "The Times" newspaper.
He wrote two other highly regarded books “the Marches of Hindustan” and “Turkey and Persia in Revolt”.
