This article describes a journey the author made in Northern Kurdistan in 1901.
He visited the area around Lake Van and spent time with the Takuri Kurds. The are several mentions of the Nestorian Christians and Armenians who also lived in the area.
Maunsell had a very good eye and includes accurate descriptions of the physical scenery and people and their clothes and weapons.
About the Author
F. R. Maunsell was a British Army officer who rose to become a General. He travelled widely and contributed other articles to the Geographical Journal NURDUZ
