Voice of Endearment by Shahram Nazeri and Kaykhosro Pournazeri is one of the landmark recordings made during the early years following the 1979 contra-revolution in Iran. It is the first and the most successful recording which combines traditional urban Oriental music with the spiritual Kurdish Tanbur music. Shahram Nazeri has devoted his life to the literature and music. He began participating in Sufi gatherings at the age of eight, which inspired him to learn to sing the poetic words of the great Oriental mystics. One of the most popular singers in Kurdistan and a master of the Kurdish classical, Sufi and Kurdish repertoires, Nazeri has won great critical acclaim for his distinctive style and virtuosity, and has made innumerable highly praised recordings.
